XE's Dan Martin visits Norway for a series of lectures

Dr Dan Martin, Xtreme Everest's expedition leader and executive board member, recently went to Norway to present three lectures on his work with Xtreme Everest.

As well as speaking to staff at St Olavs Hospital in Trondheim in person, Dr Martin's lectures were also broadcast to several other sites via a web feed. St Olavs is part of the Helse Midt- Norge which is a regional cluster of hospitals that serves a population of approximately 700 000 people and covers three counties, Nord- and Sør- Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal. The hospital cluster has approximately 15000 employees.

The hospitals that were included in this feed were:

  • Helse Nord-Trøndelag, Levanger Sykehus
  • Helse Nord- Trøndelag, Namsos Sykehus
  • Helse Møre og Romsdal, .lesund Sjukehus
  • Helse Møre og Romsdal, Volda Sjukehus
  • Helse Møre og Romsdal, Molde Sjukehus
  • Helse Møre og Romsdal, Kristiansund


During his visit, Dr Martin was also treated to a tour of St Olavs Intensive Care Unit. St Olavs is a 990 bed hospital which employes 7300 people. It is also the University Hospital for Mid-Norway and integrated with NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim). The hospital combines patient treatment, research and education in one.
