Latest Xtreme Everest book launched

On the 11 June, the Xtreme Everest team proudly launched their latest expedition photo book. A collection of over 250 photos sent to the team by trekkers and investigators. The book charts the whole story of the 2013 expedition.

Images document the team getting ready to go, including the packing of over 20 tonnes of kit and testing of equipment at sea level, testing at EBC and the celebration of a job well done. The book, which was put together by Kay Mitchell, Laboratory Manager at Namche Bazaar, and Ali Cobb, Laboratory Manager at EBC, brings to life the expedition. It records the collection of more than ten thousand samples, and the testing of not only our Sherpa and lowland trekkers and investigators, including identical twins and repeaters, but also our Young Everest Study 2 group.

The launch took place at the ISEH and was attended by invited trekkers and investigators, sponsors and friends who have all supported the Xtreme Everest research project over the years. Dr Dan Martin, Xtreme Everest 2 Expedition Leader, welcomed the attendees and thanked them for not only making the book possible but also for making the research possible. The event also raised £800 from sales of the book, which will go towards funding the ongoing research.

Priced at £25.00 each, the book is still available to buy in person from the ISEH or alternatively will be available shortly direct from our publishers.
