We have tested more than 100 subjects

DSC_2260

We have tested more than 100 subjects during the XE2 expedition now. I cannot believe that time has passed so quickly and that we are more than half way through. Trek G headed on up the hill yesterday, pictured here on arrival at the Summit Hotel in Kathmandu. Trek H are currently being tested in the laboratory, and will be following Trek G up to Everest base camp the day after tomorrow.

I am sitting in the Khumbu Lodge in Namche Bazaar writing this, as I have had to come into town to do some jobs. I have been talking to Lodge owner Pemba about the Health Clinic that has recently been opened in Namche. This clinic is funded by the local community, and is staffed by a doctor and a nurse. Health care is provided free to the porters.Others that can afford it are charged an appropriate fee, including Khumbu tourists.

There have been a few changes of staff at the Namche Laboratory in the last few days. Tom and Steve have headed off as they will soon have to return to their medical studies in the UK. Dr Jildou van der Kaaij has headed up to Everest base camp to take over as Medical Officer there. Tom Gelliot and Dr Jo Court have joined us at Namche to fill the gap, and are most welcome!

Keep following our teams via Twitter, Facebook and on this website. You can also check out blogs from some of our trekkers, including Vicki Marie Cossar from the Metro Click here, and Twins - Mary and Jane, Click here.
