Running like Paula Radcliffe?

Kay marathon 2014

I am reading Paula's autobiography to see if it inspires my training for the Bournemouth Marathon. I had read a bit of it before, and I am sure she said that she counted to 100 when she ran, over and over again. So, I do it - one count for every breath out. When running this morning it meant that I reached about 350 for every mile marker, (using mapmyrun).

I used the same technique when trying to climb Denali in 2011. It is a way of trying not to think about how much unpleasant it is. Dan, who I was climbing with at the time, said that he recited the back catalogue of the Beatles to himself. I wonder if he is doing the same thing whilst he is training. Anything to keep us going! I want to get another medal.
