Former CXE trekker reaches new heights on Lenin Peak

A former 2007 CXE trekker has recently completed a 22 day expedition to Lenin Peak. The group also manged to raise over $7000 AUD for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia. The team was made up of climbers from Australia, Sweden, Singapore and the U.K.

Standing at 7134m, Lenin Peak is the third highest mountain in the former Soviet Union and also one of the most accessible of the worlds 7000m peaks.

Setting off on the 5 July, the group managed to summit on the 22 July, a day earlier then originally planned. Along the way they had ideal climbing weather with low winds and even sun. They also managed to practise roping up for glacial travel, using the fixed lines and crevasse rescue whilst at advance base camp.

Congratulations to the team on a successful summit and for raising a lot of money for a worthy cause.
