Namche Bazaar close to centre of latest earthquake

Namche Bazaar 2013

Yet more devastating news! Namche Bazaar is close to the centre of the latest earthquake in Nepal. This earthquake, that had a magnitude of 7.4, saw its epicentre 83km (52 miles) east of Kathmandu, in a rural area close to the Chinese border.

Our thoughts are with the wonderful community of Namche, the Sherpa capital in Nepal. They welcomed us with open arms when we set laboratories up in their midst in 2007, 2009, and 2013.

Xtreme Everest medical researchers have been carrying out research related to critical care in Nepal intermittently since 2004. During every visit to this wonderful country the people of Nepal have been extremely helpful and welcoming. Without their support we would not have been able to carry out these research expeditions, and we would not have improved our understanding and care of critically ill patients using the data collected.

We urge you to help us give back to our Nepalese friends to help them rebuild their lives after these devastating earthquakes. We have set up a just giving page linked to the Nepal Disasters Emergency Committee appeal to help you donate easily. Donate here
