Thu Che (Thank you in the Sherpa language)

The XE2 team at the blessing ceremony

The XE2 team wish to say a massive thank you to all our supporters who have been donating via our website. Every single penny we receive helps us to increase our understanding of critical illness, and the development of new treatments. One way we do this is by examining the effects of hypoxia on healthy volunteers. Hence, our XE2 expedition.

The XE2 expedition is now well underway. The Kathmandu Lab is enjoying a lull in testing after a frantic ten days carrying out sea level testing on 64 Sherpas. The Namche laboratory is right in the middle of an eight day stretch of testing. Trek B are undergoing the second day of testing, and Trek C are expected as lunchtime. The Pheriche medical team are set up and ready to welcome Trek A, arriving in Pheriche today. Finally, the Everest base camp team will be starting to test themselves today, having set up their laboratory in the last few days.

Good luck with all the testing team, you are doing some great work for our understanding of hypoxia and related problems. A special happy St Pats days to Grace & Ned at Base Camp.
