In y spare I like doing ultramarathons including the 'Rock and Ice Ultra' set amongst the Artic tundra

Other than XE2 I like to spend my time climbing and skiing.
Paula Meale
Role: Co-Laboratory Manager
Bio: I usually work as a research trial co-ordinator, in the Post Operative and Critical Care Research Office, Division of Surgery and Interventional Science, UCL, and as the Enhanced Recovery Advisor for the Royal Free Hospital. My interest in altitude medicine and CASE began in 2007, when I was offered the opportunity to manage the Kathmandu laboratory for the Caudwell Extreme Everest Expedition. In my spare time I make the most of London, and love to be out socialising with friends whenever possible. I also try to hit the Munroe̢۪s of Scotland intermittently throughout the year to keep my Asolo̢۪s on the move.
Ali Cobb
Role: Co-Laboratory Manager
Bio: I am a final year medical student from the University of Bristol and will be working as a junior doctor in London from August. My involvement with CASE began at the Margherita Hut in 2010 when I spent the summer working on sea level testing, organisation and packing and 6 weeks testing in the hut. In my spare time I enjoy running, dancing and travelling. XE2 is a great way to finish off my medical degree!
Grace Gilbert-Kawai

I have a background in medicine, A&E, anaesthetics and intensive care, and a special interest in altitude medicine. I̢۪ve left my wonderful wife at home to pursue this dream, but feel we as a group can make a real difference to the future of critical care.

Logistics

Brad Jarvis
Role: Logistics Manager
I have been working on and running expeditions since the age of sixteen. Mainly working with children and young adults, I have organised and led many successful UK and international expeditions, including trips to the Ecuadorian Andes and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. When not planning trips to the mountains, I am an enthusiastic rugby player and have represented Bath Rugby Academy and the Scottish Exiles, as well as Bryanston School and London Scottish RFC.
Jimmy Carroll
Role: Expedition Manager
Bio: The military man on the mountain from the ‘Welsh Cavalry’. The similarities between horses and yaks has been uncanny and most useful to the logistics of the expedition. Peace time photography is now the name of the game.
Iain Ruggles-Brise
Role: Deputy Logistics
Bio: The trip̢۪s official Essex boy; I have just graduated from Reading University and have been involved in the pre-planning and building of the research laboratories here in Nepal. I am a keen sailor and country boy who will be learning to fly helicopters when I return to the UK.
Patrick Mythen
Role: Logistics
Bio: Just finished at Drayton Manor High School, Ealing. Sail, ski, play rugby, cricket, guitar and saxophone. Heading to Exeter to study medicine in September. Looking forward to the 'gap' in my year.
